The Forgotten Factories
Description: Deep within the Aether Fields lies a haunting vista of rusting machines, cogs, and spires. A once-gleaming symbol of industrial prowess, The Forgotten Factories are now a tangled mess of decay, silence, and shadows. Iron walkways crisscross above bottomless pits, and the haunting whistle of escaping steam echoes through empty halls. The factories were abandoned long before the Citadel's construction, yet their purpose and the people behind them remain a mystery.
Details:
Visuals: Rust-covered gears, gigantic furnaces frozen in time, conveyor belts overgrown with bioluminescent moss, half-finished mechanical creations, abandoned tools, and enormous smokestacks piercing a gloomy sky.
Hazards: Unstable floors, toxic sludge, steam leaks, mechanical traps left behind, and wandering abominations that have made the factories their home.
Soundscape: The distant creaking of metal, soft hissing of leaking steam, echoes of dripping water, and the occasional haunting clang of forgotten machinery.
Smells: The scent of rust, oil, decaying wood, and a faint trace of chemicals lingering in the air.
Discovery Opportunities: Hidden caches of valuable parts, ancient blueprints, scattered notes hinting at forgotten technologies, or even dormant machines waiting to be awakened.
Known History (from the perspective of Geaheart Citadel residents): The Forgotten Factories are a grim reminder of a bygone era. Long before the Citadel rose, they were the heart of innovation and production. But their glory days are but a faded memory. The elders speak of grand inventions born within these walls, but what led to their downfall remains shrouded in mystery. Some claim that the machines grew sentient, others that a catastrophic failure caused a mass evacuation. The brave or foolhardy relic hunters who venture there speak of eerie presences and mechanical ghosts. All agree, however, that the Forgotten Factories still hold secrets, waiting to be unearthed by those daring enough to venture into their darkened halls.

Information Block
A huge lake of brackish water hidden at the NE of the Forgotten Factories. It beckons the brave. The Abyssal Depths are a world uncharted, a dark and tranquil place where the boundaries between steampunk and sci-fi blur. As you journey deeper into these unknown waters, the world around you transforms. Strange aquatic creatures, mechanical leviathans, and ghostly apparitions fill the dark water, illuminated by the eerie glow of bioluminescent flora and submerged relics. The further you descend, the more you find the laws of physics bending, time stretching, and reality itself unraveling.
Sublevel 1: The Submerged Grotto
Upon entering the Abyssal Depths via the steampunk submarine, players discover the Submerged Grotto, a flooded cave filled with mechanical coral reefs, twisted iron seaweed, and living gears. These form an underwater maze that players must navigate, all the while uncovering clues about a civilization that once bridged technology and the ocean's might. The mechanical nature dances with the organic, creating an underwater wonderland.
Sublevel 2: The Luminous Cavern
Deeper into the Abyssal Depths lies the Luminous Cavern, an underground chamber filled with glowing crystals, reflecting pools, and steampunk machinery fused with aquatic life. Here, the light plays tricks, casting shadows and illusions, and time itself seems to slow. Puzzles of light and shadow guide the way, with cryptic messages and reflections revealing paths through this entrancing realm. The juxtaposition of the luminescent beauty and the hidden danger creates a hypnotic and unsettling atmosphere.
Sublevel 3: The Timeless Trench
At the deepest point of the Abyssal Depths lies the Timeless Trench, a place where time stands still and the laws of reality are bent. Here, ancient mechanical whales swim alongside futuristic submarines, and ghostly ships frozen in time float among interdimensional rifts. The environment itself morphs and changes, leading players through a series of spatial and temporal puzzles. The final relic awaits here, protected by enigmatic guardians that blend the essence of the sea with technological marvels.
Navigating the Abyssal Depths is a surreal and haunting experience. Each sublevel delves further into the unknown, creating a journey that is as philosophical as it is adventurous. The theme of going deeper is intensified by the constant feeling of isolation and the nagging question of what lies at the bottom of this uncharted body of water. It's a place where the past, present, and future coalesce, challenging players' perceptions of what's real and what's possible within the world of "Relic Run."
